Chinkchewunska Chapter is part of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. We own and maintain the Van Bunschooten Museum at 1097 Route 23, Wantage, NJ.
Our chapter sponsors many programs during the year and we present awards to elementary and high school students, a History Teacher of the Year award, community service award, and a historian award. For information on becoming a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution please call 973-827-3966.
The Van Bunschooten Museum is a Dutch colonial home built in 1787. The house is true to its origins with the only changes being the addition of plumbing, heat, and electricity. All rooms are open for view and are filled with period antiques. We have a research library concentrating on the history of the tri-state area. There is also a Greek revival privy, ice house with milk room, and a wagon house that features vintage carriages and machinery. The home and buildings are listed on both the New Jersey and the National Registers of Historic Sites and Places. Our tour season is from May 15th to October 15th on Thursday and Saturday from 1 PM to 4 PM. You may arrange group tours at any time of year by calling 973-875-4610.
