SWIM, Inc. Accepting Applicants for Free Water Exercise Program
SWIM, Inc., a non profit volunteer organization, is accepting applications for participants in their self directed water exercise program that will be held at the Sussex County YMCA Mondays from 1-3 PM beginning December 8th. The program is free to participants. Eligible participant candidates are adults with muscular impairment due to such causes as stroke, MS, accident, MD, arthritis, surgery, cancer or other causes who find it difficult or impossible to exercise on land. The buoyancy of water provides an environment conducive to movement not possible on land. SWIM, Inc. has been providing this free service at seven other locations in New Jersey since 1975. SWIMSMART SERVICES
If you are an exercise swimmer, triathlete or competitive swimmer (age group, high school, college or masters) and if you want to improve your swimming technique, SWIMSMART can help you to swim with greater fluidity, ease and speed. The methodology we have developed includes analysis of your swimming technique and instruction on how to execute appropriate skill drills that will fix any stroke technique weaknesses that you have.
For exercise swimmers, your joy of swimming will increase as you learn better technique. For triathletes, the ability to complete the swim leg faster and with less effort will improve your overall event performance. For competitive swimmers of all ages, the mastery of proper stroke technique will allow you to reach your full potential with personal best times.
I have been a stroke technique coach and competitive Masters swimmer for 30 years and am certified by the American Swim Coaches Association, the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association. I am one of only twenty coaches in the countyr chosen by USA Swimming to participate in the week long 1998 Sports Science Experience at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
