In January of 2007, Dog Owners Gathering Society of Vernon Township (D.O.G.S of Vernon) was formed and is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to establishing and maintaining an off-leash dog park in Vernon Township, New Jersey. A key principle underlying this effort is that the dog park should be built and maintained with no cost to the township and to the taxpayers of our community.This park will be built through fundraisers and private donations.
Our mission is simple- to promote responsible dog ownership, protect our resources and public land, and advocate dog management rules and policies as well as be a resource in dog related matters. It is a known fact that socialized dogs are less aggressive to other dogs and people. A dog park will provide a tool for realistic enforcement of dog control laws. The members of D.O.G.S. of Vernon are all volunteers who believe in this mission.
